Telematics – what is it?
Telematics in vehicles is the integration of telecommunications and technology to capture send and manage vehicle data. It is used to monitor the location, movements, status, and behaviour of vehicles.
How does it work?
A telematics device is installed in a vehicle and transmits data (like position, speed, maintenance details) wirelessly through the mobile phone network to a software application. The software shows the vehicle on a map, stores all its movements and usage details, and generates different types of reports and alerts.
What is the TMS Platform?
The TMS platform is the software you run to see the location of your vehicles on a map, to view replays of their trips, all their recorded attributes and run hundreds of reports. The platform provides you with different functions to allow you to manage fleets, linehaul, job bookings, despatch, reefer units, on-board mass (weight), safety and compliance, driver behaviour, geofences, FBT etc. You access the TMS platform via a website – you can use it at the office, at home or on your mobile/device.
All data captured by the TMS system remains in Australia.
